New Fiction Book!

And what a beautiful book!

I’m thrilled beyond measure to have a story featured in the latest anthology from the Crime Writers’ Association. Midsummer Mysteries, edited by Martin Edwards, is out now from Flame Tree Press.

This is my first fiction publication by a mainstream press (i.e., one you can get in bookshops) and it features some of the leading crime writers of today.

Just look at this extraordinary line-up: SJ Bennett, Chris Curran, Judith Cutler, Luke Deckard, Victoria Dowd, Martin Edwards, Kate Ellis, Helen Fields, Paula Lennon, G.M. Malliet, William Burton McCormick, Tom Mead, Christine Poulson, Jacquie Rogers, Meeti Shroff-Shah, Chris Simms, Art Taylor, L.C. Tyler, and … somehow, me!

The story I contributed is called ‘A Date on Yarmouth Pier’. It’s actually about Britannia Pier in Great Yarmouth (rather than Yarmouth Pier on the Isle of Wight). It’s sort of about a serial killer and, in an extraordinarily roundabout way, inspired by real life.

It is a tremendous ‘thing’ to be published like this but the most exciting thing for me is getting a copy of the (beautifully pattern-edged and shiny) book, so I can read top notch fiction from … well, I can’t single out names because some of these people are royalty.

You can buy the book direct from the publishers or (and this may be the first time I’ve said this) you may well find it in a bookshop!
