We are thrilled to confirm a very special free screening preceding the third international Agatha Christie conference at the University of Exeter this month. The conference will take place on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 June at the university, and registration is still open.
On the evening of Sunday 19 June at 5pm, we will host an exclusive free screening of the 1979 movie, Agatha, in Lecture Theatre One of the Queens Building, for early arriving delegates. We are over the moon to confirm that Agatha‘s producer, Gavrik Losey, will introduce our screening. Gavrik has also agreed to answer questions after the screening.
This classic film stars Vanessa Redgrave as Agatha Christie, recreating the turbulence of her ‘lost days’ in 1926. Dustin Hoffman plays an American journalist who puts an end to one of Christie’s most fiendish plots. For various reasons, Agatha had a troubled production history, as detailed in our 2014 keynote presentation from Professor Sarah Street. As Sarah explains in her chapter for The Ageless Agatha Christie, the film was very nearly scrapped. Gavrik is sure to shed new light on this unique chapter in cinema, biography, and heritage.
Following the screening we will all head out for an informal meal in town. See you then!
